A journalist and writer for over 40 years based in Dallas, Amy Martin has alternated between environment and entertainment. Her varied career in journalism is laced with activism and leadership, and infused with a deep spirituality and concern for the Earth. She now serves as senior features reporter for Green Source DFW.

Martin is currently writing the biography of Ned Fritz, Texas’ most famous environmentalist and nature preserver. Read the crowdfunded ebook at the website, Ned Fritz Legacy, where you can peruse finished chapters and see what’s upcoming. Scheduled for completion late 2024.

Martin was contributing editor and Dear Garbage columnist for the national magazine Garbage (recycling and features) and has written for Dallas Morning News (recycling), Dallas Observer (music and comedy), TheaterJones (comedy, magic, and cirque), and D magazine and Dallas Times Herald (performing arts).

Martin sits on the Dallas County Open Space’s Trails and Preserves Program and Friends of LLELA boards. She is a team leader for Ned & Genie Fritz Texas Buckeye Trail Restoration and Friends of Piedmont Ridge. She managed wildlife habitat rehabilitation on a private nature preserve in northeast Texas for twelve years, including converting fifteen acres of pasture into tallgrass prairie.
